management. Internet email is routed through BlackSpider Technologies’ MailControl data
centres located across Europe and North America, where all email is scanned to ensure it is free from viruses. If a virus is detected it is automatically quarantined to stop it infecting corporate networks.
Key Features & Benefits: Along with blocking viruses the MailControl service allows enterprises to add customisable HTML annotations to the top or bottom of email messages. This is frequently used by companies to add disclaimers to emails, in order to limit legal liability. Annotations can be configured on a per domain or user basis. MailControl uses three leading commercial anti-virus technologies — McAfee, Symantec and Kaspersky — to scan for infected email as well as Huntsman, BlackSpider’s own heuristic scanning engine. Through the use of heuristic scanning techniques, Huntsman is able to identify and block new virus outbreaks as they occur. With heuristics technology, it is possible to close the ‘window of exposure’ between a new virus being identified and a signature being available.
