In the following interview, Shlomi Gian, Global Director of Mobile Business Development of Keynote Systems discusses with Rake Narang, Editor-in-chief of Info Security Products Guide, how service providers can take a pro-active approach in ensuring the highest satisfaction of end-users of mobile technologies.

Rake Narang, Chief Editor - Info Security Products Guide: Is the increased mobility of information and online usage playing a key role in the importance of providing a better service to the end-users. Why should the service providers be concerned and how do your products and solutions help them be better prepared?

Shlomi Gian, Global Director of Mobile Business Development - Keynote Systems:
At this stage, consumers and end users are eager to use their mobile devices for much more than making phone calls, especially the mobile Web and the applications it facilitates, whether it’s checking email and reading the latest news or paying bills online. While sophisticated devices such as the iPhone and the Blackjack allow us to take advantage of everything the Internet has to offer, consumers and enterprise users cannot capitalize on the freedom of mobility, that is until all the major players in the mobile ecosystem - including mobile operators, content and service providers, handset manufacturers, and infrastructure providers - offer fast, secure and reliable data access that will deliver positive end-user experiences including quick downloads and interesting content tailored to a mobile device. This is crucial in the inevitable evolution of the manner in which the people interact with wireless, as well as crucial for the wireless industry and players eager to win customers, who will have a variety of choices at their disposal.

While most service providers are aware of this, until recently, the solution was not so simple. What were companies supposed to do – have real people in cities from Seattle to Taiwan regularly try to access pages and download content from multiple handsets via multiple carriers? Outside of the largest players, it would be nearly impossible given limited resources.

With the Keynote solution, we do the hard part for you. Customers can see exactly how an end user experiences their mobile interaction via real and emulated devices. In addition, they can see exactly where errors occur and why. In fact, Keynote even has systems in place that will alert customers when a crash or error occurs so they can resolve it efficiently, minimizing the inconvenience to users, and in some cases, potential revenue loss.

"With mobile devices becoming more sophisticated these days and being able to handle far more applications than just a few years back, what keeps the momentum going for further progress is the total satisfaction of end user experience. This where a company like Keynote Systems helps service providers take a pro-active approach and make the experience more rewarding."

Rake Narang:
How has Keynote Systems kept up with innovation? What is the secret behind the products and services provided by your company? How is your company focusing on 2008 growth?

Shlomi Gian:
We have kept up with innovation in a variety of ways. We were the pioneers in the Internet test & measurement space, so applying that expertise to the burgeoning mobile space was a natural extension of our business. Because of that, we already have the best and brightest engineers in the space at Keynote who enjoy the challenge of solving the engineering and design problems associated with this technology.

Also, we are fortunate to be able to call some of the biggest names in the mobile space our customers, as well as up and coming smaller players. By working closely with a variety of companies to ensure their satisfaction, we continually have new ideas to improve customer satisfaction, the platforms ease of use and the overall mobile experience for the end user.

In 2008, we are concentrating on growing our service coverage offering access to remote access in Europe, Asia and the Far East. Keynote will be the only company in the world offering such services and the price point will make it affordable to medium as well as to small sized companies.
