What makes GraniteEdge Networks, Inc. a "Hot Company" 2006

Products & Technologies

Backed by 10 years of R&D on a patent-pending causality analysis engine.

Enterprises are seeing a two-prong elevation in security threats with increasingly sophisticated attacks from the outside as well as internal users. Existing security systems can’t detect or mitigate the kind of sophisticated or staged attacks that can significantly disrupt business activity. Most hackers are what we call “low and slow” – they are under the radar and will attack over a long period of time. These systems are based on simple threshold alarms and log aggregation so they can detect singular security events that may be of interest but leaves the enormous problem of determining their meaning for the already-stretched security team. As a result, security teams waste precious time sifting through logs and watching bandwidth displays, hoping to stumble across major security incidents.

GraniteEdge Networks recently announced the deliver of the industry’s first security analytics system to expose and track security breaches in progress. With its new GraniteEdge ESP product, enterprises can now map attacks to their source and provides actionable intelligence on all impacted resources, allowing IT security teams to identify and respond to security attacks in real-time.

People & Investors

The company is led by Tony (Anthony) Naughtin who has nearly 25 years of extensive experience in the networking market to GraniteEdge Networks. Since 1991, he has focused on bringing a variety of advanced network technology companies to market and in the process built strong relationships with the VC and enterprise customer community.

For the past 10 years, GraniteEdge Networks management team has conducted extensive research and development on a technology that delivers causality and distributed event analysis. The first version of this technology was used at the founders last company, Consystant, where they helped large corporations de-bug their heterogeneous networks. After selling the company to Intel, they realized that the same technology could address some of today’s complex network security problems.

Nearly $8 million in new funding. The company is funded by Outlook™ Ventures, OVP and Acartha Group.

Performance & Growth

GraniteEdge products can be used by organizations of every size. Network Behavior Analysis market will be to security experts, what the $2.1 billion Business Intelligence market is to CRM, Supply Chain Management and ERP professionals.

Potential & Strategies

GraniteEdge Networks’ vision is to be the de facto standard enterprise security analytics system that ensures network integrity by automatically identifying and neutralizing threats in real-time. The company’s mission is to define and set a new standard for Network Behavior Analysis (NBA) that protects Global 2000 companies from financial and legal liability, intellectual property leakage, and loss of customer confidence caused by high-risk network security breaches. GraniteEdge believes its causality analysis technology will clearly differentiator it from the competition and make it a must have solution for the Global 2000 and for companies with sophisticated security requirements.
