Neon Software started in 1989 and the company has been selling LANsurveyor since the early days of the company. The continuous scan feature, an intrusion detection and prevention option, was added to the product in 2003. The company is privately held.

Strategic Partnerships - Neon has partnered with major security vendors to broaden the scope of LANsurveyor’s capabilities. LANsurveyor’s Continuous Scan Intrusion Detection System integrates with Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) to add free, automatic vulnerability assessment. LANsurveyor continuously scans networks for rogue systems. Once a new system is discovered, Continuous Scan authenticates, scans for vulnerabilities, and automatically disables network access for unauthorized or vulnerable systems. Other compatible third party software includes Symantec’s NetRecon, Qualys’ QualysGuard, and all syslog monitoring tools.
