Swivel’s flagship product PINsafe, a two-factor authentication technology based on the company’s patented protocol, was launched in Q3 2003. In the first quarter of 2005, Swivel released PINsafe v3.1, which includes authentication for Windows sessions and a third authentication factor - the physical device.

Swivel Secure Ltd. (formerly registered as Swivel Technologies Ltd) was formed in the UK in November 2000 by a group of entrepreneurs to develop a secure authentication technology based on an original idea from one of the founders.
MARR first invested in Swivel in November 2001 and increased its holding to 100% in January 2003 through the buyout of the original shareholders followed by the appointment of the current management team.
Performance
In just 18 months Swivel Secure has sold products in the USA, Canada, UK, Switzerland, Australia, China, India, South Korea and Singapore, with many more coming on stream every month.
Companies using PINsafe authentication today include global enterprises, major blue chip companies and SME businesses, many of which have migrated from hardware-based token authentication systems. Deployments include SSL VPN system authentication enabling international remote network access and inter-office communications for a Canadian technology company; a Web-based customer service access system for a leading UK systems integrator and a patient records access management system for a major Australian health authority.
