Georgia Tech and Mobile Active Defense Announce Innovation Alliance for Mobile Security
Mobile Application Development (M.A.D.) Partners, LLC is the first and only company that has developed and deployed a Mobile Enterprise Compliance and Security (MECS) server that locks down iPhones, iPads as well as smartphone and tablet devices

ATLANTA, Sept. 27, 2010 — Mobile Application Development (M.A.D.) Partners, LLC, and Georgia Tech Information Security Center (GTISC) have just completed their industry alliance partnership on mobile security research and the company will serve on the GTISC Industry Advisory Board.

Mustaque Ahamad, Director of GTISC, stated: “We certainly are in strong agreement when it comes to mobile device security and find many common interests and synergies between M.A.D. Georgia Tech is an international leader in education and research, with GTISC taking a recognized lead in information security. The center’s faculties are world leaders in areas that range from network security and botnet detection to security of emerging technologies such as VoIP and mobile devices.

M.A.D. Partners, LLC is the first and only company that has developed and deployed a Mobile Enterprise Compliance and Security (MECS) server that locks down iPhones, iPads as well as smartphone and tablet devices, giving the enterprise complete control, management and administration over their entire mobile population.

Rob Smith, CTO of M.A.D. Partners, LLC, has over two decades of security technology design, support and management. In addition to critical pioneering work on PKI for Verisign, he developed the first consumer Unified Threat Management appliance and founded the largest dedicated managed security services company in Europe.

Smith will be a headline presenter at the upcoming FutureMedia Fest in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia Institute of Technology from October 4th to 7th, 2010. FutureMedia Fest is a convergence of industry leaders, academics, entrepreneurs and venture capitalist for an interactive mash-up of talent, ideas, trends and technology and part focus on mobile security. The summit coincides with the release of the 2010 GTISC Emerging Cyber Threats Report.

He will be joined by other security experts including Eric Barnhart (GT Research Institute), and FutureMedia Fest includes panelists such as Jon Giffin, (Assistant Professor School of Computer Science, Georgia Institute of Technology), Daniel Hoffman (Chief Mobile Security Evangelist, Juniper) and Sam Philips (Vice President, Corporate Security, Research in Motion).
